Ultra Dark Competition Tan for Fitness Athletes

Brilliant Tan Ultra Dark Competition Tan is a professional spray tan solution developed specifically for fitness athletes, bodybuilders and stage competitors who require an exceptionally deep tan under bright competition lighting.

The professional-strength 15% DHA formula creates an ultra-dark base colour designed to improve stage presence and help make muscle definition more visible under strong lights.

This solution is intended for application with a professional HVLP spray tan machine. It is not a self-tanning mist and should not be applied with an applicator mitt.

Apply the Ultra Dark Competition Tan one to two days before the event to establish the base colour. On competition day, the colour can be intensified with our Competition Perfecting Bronzer .

The Perfecting Bronzer adds immediate surface colour and allows the final stage shade to be adjusted according to the athlete’s division, skin tone and competition requirements.

The developed base tan may last approximately five to eleven days, depending on skin preparation, application, skin type and aftercare.

Normal spray tans are designed to look natural in everyday lighting. Competition tanning requires a much deeper colour because bright stage lights can make the skin appear lighter and reduce the visibility of muscle definition.

The 15% DHA base solution develops within the upper layer of the skin, while the Competition Perfecting Bronzer provides additional immediate colour on the day of the event.

Competition Tan Application

Step 1: Prepare and Exfoliate

Thoroughly exfoliate the entire body using the Brilliant Tan Prep & Remove™ Glove or Ultimate Exfoliating Mitt. This removes loose dead skin cells and helps create a smoother, more even tanning result.

Apply a generous layer of Barrier Cream to the tops and insides of the hands, elbows, knees, tops and sides of the feet, and heels.

Step 2: Apply the Ultra Dark Base Coat

Apply one or two even coats using a professional HVLP spray tan machine one to two days before the competition.

Shake the bottle well before use. Pour the required amount of solution into the spray gun cup and adjust the machine according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Spray the solution over clean, dry skin using smooth, controlled strokes. Maintain a consistent distance from the body and overlap each pass slightly for even coverage.

Apply less solution to the hands, feet, elbows and knees to prevent these areas from becoming excessively dark.

Allow the client to dry fully before dressing. Avoid water, perspiration, strenuous exercise and tight clothing for at least eight hours.

Step 3: Intensify the Colour on Competition Day

Apply Competition Perfecting Bronzer on the day of the event to deepen and perfect the final stage colour.

Additional coats may be applied as required, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next.
